Why do we love pets? So many reasons! Here’s one more to consider when thinking about getting a pet – science shows that owning a pet offers many positive physical and mental health benefits.
If you are thinking of getting a pet, there are many different kinds you can choose from: guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats, horses, and more. Science has weighed in to show that not only do our animals warm our hearts, but they keep us agile by keeping the body physically working, lower blood pressure, and stimulate important inernal biological processes. Adding a pet is a big commitment, but the benefits far out-weigh any inconveniences. Pets are also a terrific mood booster, reduce stress…and most importantly, add unconditional love! Millions in the U.S. agree, as evidenced by the estimated 68% of U.S. households that have at least one pet. Ask any one who loves animals, and they will tell you just how much love they add to our lives. Each pet is here for a fraction of our life, but we are here for them for their entire lives…and we’re luckier for it.
