KNOW MORE ABOUT US

Thrive33 helps people thrive in the new era by pulling together the most useful information from the most trusted resources on fitness, wellness, business, parenting, entertainment, and more. Our goal is simple – to help people live their lives more fully in our rapidly changing world.

While the Thrive in our name speaks for itself, the number 33 holds special meaning as well. In many cultures across the world, 3 is seen as a mystical number – Pythagoreans felt that the entire world and all things in it are summed up in this number, believing the triad had an ethical dimension of prudence, drive and good fortune.  In Christianity there is the Holy Trinity (the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), and in Judaism the Kabbalah refers to the three parts of the soul (breath, spirit, and repose). In Islam, during Salah many prayers are repeated three times, in Buddhism there are the Three Jewels (Buddah, Dharma, and Sangha), and in Hinduism there is the Triple Deity of Supreme Divinity (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva). Given this, we also felt it was significant that our team met at the University of Southern California in the M.B.A. program in what was numbered internally as the L.A. 33 class.  We honor all these things and more as we provide insight and information to help people thrive.

Illustration from 1913 showing Pythagoras teaching a class of women. Many prominent members of his school were women and some modern scholars think that he may have believed that women should be taught philosophy as well as men.

In Raphael’s fresco The School of Athens, Pythagoras is shown writing in a book as a young man presents him with a tablet showing a diagrammatic representation of a lyre above a drawing of the sacred tetractys.
