As certain businesses begin to re-open, some governors also have declared it was safe to re-open schools. However, a potential second wave could emerge as children could be carriers of COVID-19. Is this the time for schools to re-open?

Most schools in the United States are closed for the rest of the academic year and plans for re-opening in the fall are still in question. Guidance from the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics give recommendations that include reduced hours, social distancing, and extended dismissals. Additionally, the CDC has guidance for school and childcare programs to potentially resume to mitigate and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Some other states may not be ready, but can utilize a combination of remote learning with in-person learning. We can also look to lessons from other countries as they begin their journeys to get their children back to school.
