Who should get the vaccine first? CDC Panel offers recommendations for guidelines.
With U.S. approval of COVID-19 vaccines expected this month, a CDC panel recommended that vaccines should first go to health workers and long-term care residents, with essential workers being the next priority.
So what is the process, and how are these things determined? The CDC panel makes recommendations, which will then need to be approved by the CDC Director. It is then up to each state to lay out what their local policies will be, using the recommendations from the CDC as guidance.
