San Francisco Mayor London Breed initially took heat for taking the first aggressive action at social distancing in the country. Turns out, she was right.

Mayor London Breed showed strong leadership by being the first leader in the country to order shelter in place orders for the city on March 17th. As a result, San Francisco has not seen the same coronavirus surge that other similarly-sized cities in the country have. Hindsight is showing how willingness to take hard and initially unpopular steps based on data and evidence saved lives.
