Millions of Americans now have access to free, anonymous coronavirus exposure notifications. They are safe, and private. Use them.

The coronavirus surge is upon us, and your phone might be able to help. About 100 million Americans now have the ability to get pop-up notifications from local health authorities when they’ve personally spent time near someone who later tested positive for the coronavirus. They are free and private, only letting contacts know they were exposed, not by whom or when.

Exposure notifications only work, however, if you and the people around you turn them on! All you do is set it and forget it until you, or someone you’ve been around, gets a positive coronavirus test. That’s all it takes. Every once in a while you might get a notification just to remind you the system is still running. Tools like this can help us slow the spread, so learn more below.
